Shanked is built by a small independent team. We don't run a ticket queue or a chatbot - every email lands in a real inbox a human reads. If something's broken, weird, or just confusing, tell us.

admin@shanked.app - we aim to reply within 1 business day on weekdays. Weekends and bank holidays may take a bit longer (we're out playing).
What to include
To help us fix things faster, when you write in please include:
- The screen or feature you were using (e.g. "live round, hole 7")
- Your device + OS version (e.g. "iPhone 15, iOS 18.1")
- What you expected vs what actually happened
- A screenshot or screen recording if the problem is visual
- Your account email so we can find your round in our logs
Feature requests + feedback
Same address - admin@shanked.app. Tell us what's missing, what's annoying, what would make you tell your mates about the app. We read every message, and we ship fixes faster than you'd expect.
Account & billing questions
Subscription cancellations, refunds and plan changes are handled by Apple (iOS) or Google (Android) through your device's account settings - that's how the platforms require it. For anything we can help with directly - email confirmations, account deletion, data export under UK GDPR - write to admin@shanked.app.
Privacy
Shanked is operated from the UK. We're the data controller for the personal information you give us when you create an account or use the app. This section explains what we collect, why, and what your rights are.

Why we use it
- Your account and the app working at all - name, email, password, profile, scores, bag.
- Distance to pin and shot tracking - your live GPS location, used only while a round is active and never stored unless you explicitly track a shot.
- Social features - friend requests, group leaderboards, the Clubhouse feed. Other users only ever see what you share with them.
- Improving the app - anonymised crash and usage data via PostHog, so we know what's broken before you have to tell us.
Who we share with
We use a small number of third parties to run Shanked. None of them sell your data and we only send what's needed for them to do their job:
- Supabase - database and authentication. Your data sits in EU-region Postgres with row-level security.
- RevenueCat - Pro and Tour subscriptions on iOS and Android.
- Resend - transactional emails (sign-up, password reset, friend invites).
- Apple and Google - only if you choose Sign in with Apple or Google. They confirm your identity, nothing more.
- Mapbox, Open-Meteo, Google Maps, GolfCourseAPI - mapping, weather and course data. These get your location or a course name when you ask for them, never your identity.
- Firebase Cloud Messaging - push notifications, only if you enable them.
How long we keep it
Round and stat history is kept for as long as your account is active. Tracked shot GPS coordinates are retained alongside the shot record (used for averages and the bag screen). Delete your account and we wipe everything within 30 days, except where we're legally required to keep transaction records (typically 6 years for tax purposes).
Your rights under UK GDPR
- See what we hold on you.
- Correct anything that's wrong.
- Delete your account and data.
- Export your rounds and stats.
- Withdraw consent for marketing emails (we don't send any anyway, but the right is yours).
- Complain to the ICO if we mess up - ico.org.uk.
To exercise any of these, email admin@shanked.app. We aim to respond within 30 days.
Children
Shanked isn't designed for under-13s. If we find out we've collected data from a child without parental consent, we'll delete it.
Terms of service
By using Shanked you agree to these terms. They form a binding contract under English and Welsh law. If you don't agree, don't use the app - refunds are available within 14 days of subscribing per the section below.
Your account
- You must be 13 or older.
- You're responsible for keeping your password safe and for everything done under your account.
- One human, one account. Don't share logins or run bots.
- We can suspend or close accounts that violate these terms or the acceptable use policy below.
Subscriptions
- Free - always free, capped at 8 clubs in the bag and 3 friends.
- Pro - £4.99 per month or £39.99 per year. Unlocks unlimited bag, unlimited friends, weather caddy, par-type stats, and more.
- Tour - £9.99 per month or £99.99 per year. Adds GPS shot tracking, scrambling, strokes-gained scoring and the full Tour analytics suite.
Paid plans renew automatically until cancelled. Cancel any time from your device's App Store or Play Store subscription settings - your plan stays active until the end of the current billing period.
Refunds
If you're new to a paid plan and the app isn't for you, email us within 14 days of the first charge and we'll refund. After 14 days refunds are at our discretion. App Store and Play Store refunds follow Apple's and Google's own policies, which override ours where they conflict.
Your content
You own your rounds, photos, comments and anything else you post. By using Shanked you give us a non-exclusive licence to host that content and show it to the people you've shared it with (your friends, group members, or - if you've made a post public - the wider Clubhouse feed). We never sell your content or use it to train AI.
Service availability
We aim to keep Shanked up and running but we can't promise zero downtime. Maintenance happens. APIs we depend on go down. GPS gets wobbly. We're not liable for losses caused by service interruptions, lost rounds during a sync hiccup (round data is queued offline and re-synced when possible), or wrong distances on the GPS caddy. Don't blame the app for the shank.
Changes to these terms
We can update these terms when something material changes - a new feature, a regulatory shift, a pricing tweak. We'll email you and put a notice in the app at least 14 days before changes take effect. Continued use after the notice period means you accept the new terms.
Acceptable use
The Clubhouse only works because most people behave like decent humans. The short version: don't be abusive, don't impersonate, don't spam, don't cheat the leaderboard. The longer version:
- No harassment. Hate speech, threats, sustained personal attacks - out.
- No impersonation. Pretending to be someone else, including pros, gets you removed.
- No fake rounds. Inflating or fudging scores to game the leaderboard ruins it for everyone. We can detect this.
- No spam or scraping. Don't post commercial content without asking, and don't try to extract data from the app or APIs.
- Respect courses. If we detect you mapping holes for venues you've never visited, we'll roll back the data.
